Day 13: Amunì compà, Uma & Marco race to Sicily!: 35.6km from Vercelli to Mortara
"What's hard in the short-term often makes life easier in the long-term."
The route:
Strengthened by the day of rest and with a fresh haircut from an 82-year-old barber, we set off through the peaceful Saturday morning atmosphere of the beautiful town of Vercelli.
The stage is flat (Po Valley), but has a few tough sections through tall grass and uneven forest and field paths with nasty roots.
Our destination is Mortara, the area is called “Lomellina” and we are now moving from Piedmont to Lombardy.
Good? Bad? Ugly?
First, a glance at the "Gazette dello Sport" and then a brief excitement during a cappuccino and cornetto stop at Robbio; the first bar that doesn't accept card payments. The barista takes it in stride, and we return in the afternoon to settle the debt.
Of course, we still strictly adhere to the Mediterranean diet today!
A total distance of 35.6km and 42 meters of elevation.
