Day 20: Amunì compà, Uma & Marco race to Sicily!: 37km from Passo del Cisa to Aulla
It's never too late to start. It's never too late to make a change.
The route:
Bye, Tuscany! A picture-perfect start at the Passo del Cisa, and we meet 84(!)-year-old pilgrim Ingrid from Germany. What an achievement, what an inspiration!
Today we descend the 1,000 meters. While it's a good and faster run, it's a real pain for your thighs and knees. The stopover in Pontremoli, built between two rivers and countless small bridges, is a truly beautiful one.
The route continues on a fairly flat path, past shady forests but also through really sunny sections on roads that are partly closed.
Good? Bad? Ugly?
Here in Italy, I'm always delighted by automotive treasures with their ancient license plates (all white on black) or slightly newer ones with the orange provincial markings. And they actually seem to be driven every day.
A total distance of 37km and 200 meters of elevation.
