Day 17: Amunì compà, Uma & Marco race to Sicily!: 33km from Piacenza to Fidenza
"Consistency is key. If you don't have consistency on the basics, whatever else you do doesn't matter." (Steve Magness)
The route:
Better to dress too much than too little – proved to be a good idea again today. Although the morning looked promising, the wind and cold breeze weren't long in coming.
After a sumptuous breakfast at Paolo's, we headed from Piacenza to Fidenza, via forest and field paths and back roads, ending with an unexpected water crossing followed by a "mud bath." This is where the quality of our shoe and sock selection really shines. Both passed the test with flying colors—I haven't gotten a single blister in the 17 days so far.
Good? Bad? Ugly?
Today we're stopping at the "Battibue," which, coincidentally, is also highly praised in the osteria guide. I think we won't go hungry.
A total distance of 33km and 75 meters of elevation.
